Top lifestyle publication Ernest Journal lives for true artisanship, eccentricity and timeless style, all qualities that we at R&E aspire to. That's why it’s our pleasure to introduce the Ernest Journal Collection Edit, their take on the finest pieces from our SS16 range...
Let's get right into it, shall we?
Made from 100% cotton poplin, our short-sleeved archive shirt is the perfect breathable option for those warm summer evenings. The stylised button placket and shaped front hemline is cleverly designed to be worn tucked in or out, whilst the stitched ‘ghost’ pocket offers a subtle nod to the iconic WW2 Ghost Patrol.
Combining a clean cut silhouette with utilitarian detailing, the A13 Utility Waistcoat is inspired by WW2 desert uniforms and constructed from a durable, high quality cotton twill for a smart workwear aesthetic.
When standard issue kit only came in sand colour, troops in warmer climes hand dyed their gear for a more camouflaged appearance. The Jungle Field Jacket takes direct influence from this, and is garment-washed in this season's tones for a true vintage appearance.
Inspired by a pair of khaki serge trousers found in the IWM archive, our Chino Combat Trousers are brilliantly crafted from a soft cotton chino twill offering a comfortable, crisp finish. Versatile and perfect for the cooler summer days and evenings.
Following the same lines of inspiration as the Chino Combat Trousers, our Combat Shorts provide a durable and stylish short for the hotter summer days and nights. Pays homage to authentic military details with a vintage metal button down fly and large external map pocket on the left front thigh.
Made in England from merino wool, our lightweight knitted crew-neck has fully-fashioned sleeves and self-coloured nylon patches on the shoulders and chest pocket; a detail informed by Second World War officer uniforms.
"Not by strength by guile". Inspired by the LRDG and Ghost Patrol's meticulous attention to detail, we've created a stylish and hard wearing summer jacket - however, we've included some pretty nifty functional features too.
What a collection - everything you need to keep it smart this summer. Massive thanks to all involved at Ernest Journal for your selections!
