Filtering down from catwalk to the high-street, this spring's botanic revolution has seen floral patterns and prints firmly establish themselves in the menswear market.
However, where other designers have reinvented this eye-catching style with a new wave of bold patterns and colour combinations, at Realm & Empire, we have taken our cue from authentic British history.
With 2014 marking the centenary of the Great War, we were amazed to find a magnificent fragment of floral wallpaper preserved in the IWM archive, as taken from a German trench in 1917 - a poignant insight to the importance placed on creating a homely feel for the troops on the front line. We knew we had use it to adorn key pieces of our SS14 collection.
What's more, for those who favour exclusivity, you will be pleased to hear that the fragment is not yet on display to the general public in the IWM galleries, so, feel safe in the knowledge, you're definitely be wearing something a bit special.
In true Realm & Empire style, no detail goes unnoticed and what was originally a handwritten inscription detailing its place of origin, has been subtly transformed to bear our signature, ‘Property of Great Britain’ strap line.
Find the floral trench print on our signature tees (the simplest way to inject this trend in to your outfit), as well as on our shirts, shorts and scarves.
