With a collection that pulls influence from home and across the Atlantic, it's all too apt that we kick off the AW15 selling season with a trip across the pond! Located on Pier 94, Manhattan, we're pretty darn excited to showing our new Flyers collection at New York's Liberty Fairs. It's the second year that we've attended the event which sees hundreds of industry professionals flock to the city to view fresh Autumn Winter collections from contemporary menswear fashion brands, both home-grown and international.
This season we turn our attention to the masters of the skies for our new 'Flyers' collection with design concepts informed by RAF Bomber command, the Battle of Britain and the parachutists of the airborne divisions. Highlights include the introduction of R&E visibility details - brilliant, contrast-colour fabric patches inspired by the bright painted, fluorescent hoods seen on authentic Coastal Command jackets!
Digging through the archives, we've uncovered superb American twists gleaned from our fascination with US aircrew finery and clever aircraft nose art during the 1940s.
Made in USA in collaboration with Cockpit USA, this season we're proud to finally unveil the marvellous A2, an authentic leather flying jacket, featuring a hand-painted Liberty Belle pinup inspired by real WW2 nose art! This is the real show-stopper of the collection - and the piece that's been the hardest to keep under wraps during the past six months of research & design.
Awarded over 100 military decorations, including the US Medal of Honour, the original A2 was made famous by General Douglas MacArthur. Like those originals, you’ll notice the natural creases, folds and surface graining of the hard-wearing real russet brown leather, whilst details include top entry pockets, a snap down collar and underarm ventilation.
A tremendous piece, the A2 Leather Flying Jacket is a symbolic combination of its proud American legacy and skilled British craftsmanship.
Available online from August 2015. There may be a little while to wait, but we're confident it'll be worth it - if we haven't bought them all ourselves before then!
