How Chocolate Helped win the War...

Easter Monday is approaching, I wish we could say that after 40 days of giving up our chocolate addiction in the office for lent, it’s time to eat our body weight in chocolate to make up for it, but I don’t think we even lasted a week!

So how on earth did the troops manage!?

Well with a blend of chocolate, sugar, cocoa butter, skim milk powder and oat flower, you get...

‘The Hershey’s D-Ration Bar!’

The requirements to ‘Hersheys’ given by Captain Paul Logan, from the office of U.S Army Quartermaster General was to create a chocolate bar to be used as an emergency ration and to be only eaten on the verge of starvation.

The Bar had to weigh 4 ounces, able to withstand high temperatures, be high in energy and taste just a little better than a boiled potato!

I think it's safe to say we’ll be sticking to the Hershey’s Cookies ‘n’ Cream.

Well done to all those chocoholics that gave up chocolate for lent, go stuff your faces with chocolate eggs this Easter, I think we’ll give the ‘D-ration, teeth breaking’ choccy bars a miss!
