From code-breakers to double agents; for Spring / Summer 17 Realm & Empire presents Decoded, our latest collection inspired by the IWM archives. This season, the range takes its cue from the undercover realm of espionage, Station X and the creative double-cross missions that aimed to out-smart, trick and deceive.

Engineered by the prestigious Twenty Committee, the double cross system was the greatest intelligence coup of the Second World War. Risky reconnaissance missions were performed behind enemy lines whilst agents sent overseas by Britain’s Special Operations Executive were equipped with specially designed IDs and civilian clothing.realm-empire-menswear-casual-blazer-workwear-jacket This season, the Realm & Empire classic collection combines casual functionality with 1940s European influences. French workwear style chore jackets and shorts are stone-washed for an authentic vintage look and exceptional softness. Our new work-pant is crafted in a loose fit, straight-leg chambray for a relaxed, lightweight denim appearance. An R&E re-issue wadded nylon bomber jacket, jersey cardigans and a selection of poplin shirts complete the look.

Forming part of our smarter, covert range, a single-breasted showerproof mac is bonded with a concealed front fastening and a decorative zig-zag stitching– a nod to one of Britain’s most successful double agents! The look is complimented by short sleeve jacquard weave lapel shirts and fine British-made knitwear, fashioned in Leicestershire.ss17-mens-jerseywear-tshirts-realm-empireA fresh consignment of jerseywear includes typographical and linear screen-printed graphics based on radar transmittance and covert communications, whilst a special all-over print cipher alphabet, honours the incredible work accomplished by Bletchley Park’s code-breakers. Indigo dyed jersey is designed to fade to reveal ‘barely-there’ insignia, a notion inspired by the fake Army groups that were assembled as part of Operation Fortitude.

Realm & Empire’s high summer offering comes in the form of an athletic leisurewear range featuring a hooded raincoat constructed from light performance fabric as well as training wear, expertly cut from premium cotton loopback – great for working out or hanging out.

Our motto is hard-wearing not hard work. With a salute to the past and nod to the present, Realm & Empire clothing echoes the purpose and practicality that has contributed to our country’s unique story, proffering style with a contemporary edge.
