Realm & Empire produce high quality menswear with a genuine story. Our exclusive access to the Imperial War Museum's archive of garments, artefacts and photos provides us with a fundamentally British starting point, from which our designers create striking contemporary clothing infused with meticulously researched historical detail.
This year, we are kicking things off with a celebration of British history and craftsmanship in Menswear. Joining forces with British shoemakers Loake and our partners at IWM London, we are giving one of you the chance to win an authentic military kit bag containing:
A selection of Realm & Empire garments (including: 1 x Wool Overshirt, 1 x Kit-Bag Design T-shirt, 1 x Dazzle Sweatshirt, 1 x Diver's Hoodie, 1 x Commando Beanie); a pair of British-made Goodyear Welted Bedale brogue boots and a premium leather belt from Loake, as well as a pilot watch and an aviator wallet, courtesy of IWM.
Pretty good, huh!
The process is simple...
The Loake family has been making shoes in Northamptonshire, England, for five generations. The company is one of the most experienced producers of fine, Goodyear welted footwear in the world, estimating it has made more than 50 million pairs. The tradition began in 1880 when three Loake brothers set out to produce the best men’s shoes possible. Today Loake’s premium Goodyear welted shoes take eight weeks to produce. Some 130 skilled craftspeople, up to 75 shoe parts and 200 different operations are involved. Only the highest quality materials are used. Loake is a truly authentic British brand, having made footwear for British soldiers and officers in two World Wars, British Olympic teams and other high profile British sportsmen, actors and musicians. You can find out more about Loake here.
At Realm & Empire, our partnership with IWM supports everything we do and ensures that all Realm & Empire apparel is fundamentally inspired by real history. This year is a big one for IWM London, marking 100 years since it first opened its doors. The museum explores how the history of modern conflict affects us all, from the front line to the home front. Exhibits range from objects of war to photographs and personal letters; they include film and sound recordings and some of the twentieth century's best-known paintings. Visit the IWM shop here.
