For this design, references are observed from a LRDG formation badge, featuring a small subtle emblem on the chest and ‘Ridin’ The Storm’ motif on the back. The original badge was designed by Gunner Grimsey. The circlet was said to represent the wheels on which the unit relied and the scorpion was both typical of the desert environment and of the “stings” which it could inflict upon its enemy.
